Bogus copper targets woman

By Haringey Independent

A MAN posing as a policeman stole cash from a 91-year-old woman after conning his way into her Wood Green home.

The conman, who is operating around Dunbar Road and Lloyd Thomas Court, entered the pensioners house on April 27 shortly after 1.15pm.

He produced a false warrant card and said he was a police officer conducting inquiries into local burglaries.

Once inside he asked where she kept her valuables safe and stole £70 cash.

The next day at around noon, a 76-year-old woman became his next target, but she managed to evade his questions and he fled empty handed.

The man is described as 35 years old, 5ft 10ins tall with dark hair. He was wearing a beige jacket, dark trousers and white collarless shirt.

Anyone with information should contact DC Andy Burton at Tottenham CID on 8345 0733.
