Man arrested with gun

A MAN was arrested for carrying a gun last week after a tip-off.

Police were called to a house in Lea Bridge Road on Friday afternoon after a member of the public reported seeing a man in the street whom he suspected of robbing him at gunpoint on another occasion.

Armed officers rushed to the scene but found the man was not the armed robber in question. But, coincidentally, he was in possession of an illegal weapon, and police arrested him.

Police also found several occupants of the house in possession of drugs and several were taken away for questioning. Police inquiries continue.
