'Rape' call saves woman

A WOMAN deterred a would-be robber by crying "rape" in Beulah Path, Walthamstow, on Sunday, July 29, at 12.30pm.

The 34-year-old was confronted by a man brandishing a pair of scissors.

He ordered the woman to hand over her bag. He then told her to take off her shoes and belt.

Fearing the worst the woman repeatedly cried out and the man ran off, throwing away her handbag.
