Waiter discharged after cannabis findBy Leyton and Leytonstone GuardianA WAITER who has been unable to work because of painful hands pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis at Waltham Forest Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Prosecution representative Andreas Vangelli said that Gavin Gabriel, 25, had a small amount of cannabis on him in West Avenue, Leytonstone, on Friday. The court heard that Gabriel, of Millias Road, Leytonstone, admitted having the drug for his personal use. Gabriel, who was not represented, said that he was a trained chef and was working as a waiter until recently when he had an operation to remove the sweat glands in his hands. He said his hands were painful and he was unable to work for at least another six weeks. Magistrates gave Gabriel a one-year conditional discharge. He was also ordered to pay £40 costs and the cannabis will be destroyed. 15:12 Thursday 15th August 2002
