Assault on Muslim womanBy Leyton and Leytonstone GuardianA MUSLIM woman wearing traditional dress and a mask over her face was indecently assaulted by a shop worker who tried to kiss her. The woman, who did not report the assault for almost a month for fear of her family's reaction, was shaken and distressed by the incident. The attack took place at 9am on Saturday August 3, at an Islamic food shop in High Road, Leyton. The shop worker, described as Eastern European, tried to kiss the woman and attempted to get inside her clothing, a police spokesman said. The spokesman said: "She was frightened to tell anybody because it is not nice from a religious point of view. She was concerned about how her family would react to what had occured. But eventually she was persuaded to report it because it could well be that this was not an isolated incident." The man is described as 50 years old. Anyone with information can contact Leyton police on 8529 8666. 15:19 Thursday 5th September 2002
