Teen caught in fake gun attack
By Walthamstow GuardianA 16-year-old boy pulled a gun on a terrified young woman in an entirely unprovoked attack. The 25-year-old woman was walking along Wood Street, Walthamstow, on Friday when the youth walked up to her and held a gun to her head. A police spokesman said: "She did not know what was going to happen. She was very, very scared." She immediately called police and was taken by officers around surrounding streets, where they spotted the alleged gunman ten minutes after the attack. He was arrested but has not yet been charged. When he was searched, police found he was in possession of an imitation gun. The police spokesman praised the woman for reporting the crime so promptly. "We ask the public to report street crimes as soon as possible. If police can respond to the incident straight away and go with the victim around the streets to search for the suspect, then the police have a better chance of apprehending them," added the spokesman. 15:28 Thursday 5th September 2002
