Drugs and tobacco found

By Haringey Independent

A MAN was due to appear in court on Wednesday in connection with an alleged drugs and tobacco haul.

A police spokesman said that a 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday after police found a stash of cigarettes and drugs in his red Mercedes in Park Road, Hornsey.

Police who had initially stopped the car at around 3.50pm because of a suspect tax disc, allegedly found 1,150 packets of cigarettes worth more than £5,000 along with three wraps of cocaine.

The man was taken to Hornsey police station.

Police later searched his flat in Muswell HIll Broadway, and found another 1,000 packets of cigarettes. The man had also allegedly been using two rooms in his flat as a commercial cannabis factory.

As many as 45 plants in one room and 70 in another were found along with sodium lighting equipment, a heating system and fans.

Customs and Excise officers have confiscated the Mercedes and the cigarettes.
