Girl caught up in Yard probeBy Leyton and Leytonstone GuardianPOLICE inquiries are continuing into a Leytonstone girl at the centre of a massive corruption investigation at Scotland Yard. The unnamed woman, 20, is one of two civilian workers alleged to be the girlfriends of Yardie gangsters. They worked at a London police station and had access to highly confidential criminal intelligence including information on the Met's fight against Yardie gun crime. The girl was arrested at her home in Leytonstone earlier this month under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Both of the women have been suspended from their jobs and were bailed pending further inquiries. They are due to return to a London police station in November. Their boyfriends one of whom was shot and wounded six months ago and the other allegedly being investigated by Operation Trident are also wanted by police for questioning. The arrests of the two women on August 12 are said by police sources to raise serious questions about the system of checking the backgrounds of civilian workers. 11:59 Thursday 24th October 2002
