Boost to crime fight

THE battle to cut muggings in Waltham Forest received a boost this week when it was announced that the Government is to give the borough ten new street crime wardens.

It has provided £696,900 to pay for the extra wardens, who will back up police by patrolling streets in crime hotspots such as Leyton.

Their role will be to reduce the fear of crime, deter anti-social behaviour and foster good community relations.
