Police seek lorry after £200k hijackBy Harlow and Bishop's Stortford CitizenA HARLOW lorry driver is recovering at home after he was bundled into the back of a van when he stopped at the Shell petrol station on the A414 at Hastingwood. Police said the man was held for more than two hours following a lorry hijacking at the London Road garage shortly before 11pm on Saturday. Detectives are now trying to trace the Comet articulated truck, registration number YGO2 LJK, which contained almost £200,000 worth of electrical equipment, including televisions and DVD players. The 38-year-old driver pulled into the service station as he returned to Harlow from Northamptonshire. As he climbed down from the cab he was grabbed and forced into the back of a white van, police said. He was then driven round for several hours before being dumped in Ferry Road, Rainham. He managed to raise the alarm at a nearby bus depot. Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the DAF lorry leave the garage forecourt to come forward. The lorry had a white cab and mostly black trailer with the Comet logo in gold lettering on the sides. Anyone with any information should ring Epping police on 01279 625441. 14:53 Thursday 12th December 2002
