Bookies targeted

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after burglars made off with £500 from a bookmaker's fruit machine after causing £1,500 damage.

The crooks forced a side door of Oddsit bookmakers in Beehive Lane, Barkingside between 3.45pm on New Year's Eve and 9am on New Year's Day.

Once inside the premises they smashed open the fruit machine and looted it of the cash, along with two computer monitors. Witnesses should ring Det Con Steve Christian at Ilford CID on 8345 2710.
