MD robbed in driveway

By Wanstead and Woodford Guardian

A WOODFORD Green managing director was brutally robbed of £7,000 cash on his own driveway.

The 47-year-old man was left with suspected broken fingers and cuts to his head when two thugs assaulted him with a car jack after pulling him from his car outside his home off Broadmead Road.

A spokeswoman for Ilford police, who have only just released details of the crime, said: "The two men pulled him from the car and hit him around the head with a car jack.

They pulled a bag from his grasp but his fingers were broken by the force they used.

"The two men must have known that he would be carrying such a large amount of money on a particular day, so we are keen to hear from any witnesses or people with any information about the robbery."

Following the brutal robbery at just after 6pm, on Tuesday December 3, the shocked boss was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

He was carrying home the cash takings from his business when he was set upon by the pair who are thought to have planned the attack as they knew the managing director's home address.

His two attackers were both black men, aged about 21 and were wearing baseball caps.

It is believed they may have made their escape in a dark coloured Ford Fiesta thought to be either a K or R registration.

Any witnesses or anybody with any information should contact Det Con Jamie Day of Ilford CID on 8345 2745 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
