Man stabbed with screwdriver

By Walthamstow Guardian

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was left fighting for his life after he was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver near Waltham Forest Magistrates Court.

He was walking with his uncle and two friends in Forest Road near the junction with Farnan Avenue, last Wednesday at 4.25pm, when he was attacked.

An white E-reg Toyota Corolla abruptly pulled up by the walking group in Forest Road, and a passenger jumped from the car stabbing the 21-year-old in his left temple with a screwdriver.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Whipps Cross Hospital. He was later transferred to the National Hospital in West London.

His attacker is described as an Asian man, in his early 20s. He was wearing a cream jacket and dark trousers. The driver of the getaway car is described as an Asian man, wearing a blue baseball cap and a dark jacket.

The victim was still on a ventilator on Tuesday but his condition was described as stable.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the stabbing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Leyton police on 8529 8666, or the anonymous CrimeStoppers number on 0800 555 111.
