Police hunt after wedding rumpus

By Leyton and Leytonstone Guardian

POLICE are searching for two men after a disabled woman claimed she was attacked by a group of people attending a wedding.

Jane Voysoy says she was walking with her daughter and daughter's boyfriend past Matalan in Leytonstone when she was set upon.

She said they saw a young boy vandalising a car and chased him away, but the boy returned with a group of men.

Mrs Voysoy, 43, said the group came from a nearby wedding party, which had been in progress for three days. They attacked Mrs Voysoy and her two companions.

The police arrived five minutes later but made no arrests.

Mrs Voysoy said: "We were just trying to be good citizens by chasing away the boy, but we were attacked. I was hysterical and couldn't stop screaming. I had just come out of hospital following a stay of 18 weeks."

The alleged attack took place on Boxing Day at 5pm. Police said they were investigating the crime but were looking for only two men.

A spokesman said: "Three victims contacted police regarding what they thought was an Eastern European man tampering with a car. There was a party nearby and police believe that an altercation took place between the three victims and the man, who then ran off.

"Two men then returned and a fight took place between the men and the three victims, who were kicked and punched before the suspects ran off."

Both attackers are thought to be about 41. One had greased back black hair, was wearing a cream suit and was described as fat.

The other was wearing a three-piece dark suit and a black tie. Information to DC Heatley of the Community Safety Unit on 8529 8666.
