Callous thieves rob 80-year-olds of £400

By Leyton and Leytonstone Guardian

TWO men fled with more than £400 in cash after forcing their way into the home of an 80-year-old couple.

The two barged into the house in Granleigh Road, Leytonstone, at 9.30am on Tuesday, February 4, pushing the couple around and demanding money.

Although unarmed, the men threatened the pensioners. They searched the house and fled with £400 which was stored in different envelopes ready to pay bills. The first man is described as black, 22, 5ft 6in, and of slim build.

He had a black afro hairstyle, a dark baseball cap and had a strong London

accent. He escaped on a mountain bike. The second man is also black and in his early 20s.

The elderly man was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital with cuts.
