Bar stool battler bound over By Epping GuardianA MAN who denied assaulting a fellow drinker whom he accused of injuring his dog with a bar stool has been bound over to keep the peace for a year. Charles Collier, 39, of Rainbow Road, Matching Tye, denied a charge of common assault at the Fox pub, Matching Tye, when he appeared before Harlow magistrates last Thursday. Frank O'Toole, prosecuting, said Collier was drinking in the pub on the evening of Sunday, October 6, when he made abusive remarks to the alleged victim, Donald Alcock. Mr O'Toole said: "Mr Alcock was in the Fox public house at about 6pm when he started to receive verbal abuse from the defendant about a previous incident." Collier alleged that Mr Alcock had previously struck one of his dogs on the head with a stool during an earlier disagreement. During the argument on October 6, Mr Alcock was struck on the left ear and Collier was ejected from the pub by the landlord and barred from returning. Although Collier denied committing the offence he was bound over to keep the peace for a year in the sum of £100 while the charge of common assault was dismissed. 08:51 Sunday 16th February 2003
