Met looking for wanted manThe Metropolitan police's Extradition and International Unit is appealing for information about a wanted man who may be in hiding in London. Abdul Salam, 29, is wanted by Belgium police over the violent murder of a young woman. Police want to speak to him following the death of Malika Sousse, 28, who was killed on November 30 last year. Her throat had been cut. Salam, who originates from Bangladesh, had been accused of harassing the woman with hundreds of text messages in the weeks before the murder. Salam arrived in Dover on December 30, claiming asylum and using the alias Mohammed Ahad Khan. He is also known to have used the alias Rouf Uddin in Belgium. He remained in immigration custody for a week before being bailed at Bromley Magistrates Court to a relative's house in Bow. He then visited other relatives in Plaistow, Stepney and Southwark, but has since disappeared. He is also known to have contacts in Manchester. Det Con Ron Hay, who is investigating, said: "We believe Abdul Salam may have submerged himself into the Bangladeshi community here in London or elsewhere in the UK." Salam is considered to be very religious and is expected to attend mosques for prayers. Anyone with information can contact Scotland Yard on 7230 3191. 11:46 Tuesday 18th February 2003
