Love at the bar

PUB tenants David and Valerie Carroll worked in rival pubs in Nazeing when they first met in 2000.

But last year they married and now work together at the McMullen pub, the Lion in Eastwick Road, Harlow.

David was a regular customer at the Lion 20 years, so when they heard of the tenancy they applied for it straightaway.

In his previous pub, David ran a successful restaurant and he and Valerie have already introduced a food menu at the Lion. They are also refurbishing the garden and courtyard for the summer.
