The road to fear

A murder that took place in 1832 is said to be the cause of the haunting that now takes place along Barnet Road in Enfield.

Mr Danby was the person murdered and it is his apparition that causes animals to become terrified. Horses have been reported to bolt and gallop at breakneck speed when they have encountered the ghost.

The man is said to be tall, have a deathly white face and a gaping wound in his neck. He always stops beside a certain gate along the roadside and then slowly disappears.
