Wanted: man to join list for dating agency

By Graeme Culliford

FOR some women the easiest way to find the man of their dreams is to go through a dating agency.

But for Chingford-based Romantic Liaisons the quest is becoming equally as tough a job.

And that is why owner Susan Leonard has put out a call for any eligible bachelors to join up to date their long list of female hopefuls.

"I've got stacks of female clients but only one man has come forward," said Ms Leonard from her Larkshall Road base.

"I think this dating agency could be a real success. Men in Chingford just need to be more prepared to take a risk and go out with someone new."

Mum-of-three Ms Leonard, 45, came up with the idea to start the agency after separating from her husband and struggling to find a new partner for seven years.

She did manage to find love again, but says that meeting people later in life can be extremely difficult.

There is a real lack of social events and going out can be prohibitively expensive, she claims.

Joining Romantic Liaisons costs £30 a year for single parents on benefits and old age pensioners, and £80 a year, or £50 for six months, for everyone else.

For a little extra a client can join the agency's specialist relationship counselling sessions.

Applicants have to answer 60 questions about themselves, ranging from the type of person they wish to meet to what they like to do in their spare time.

They also have to submit a photo, which will be attached to an identification card.

Clients are then matched by Ms Leonard personally. She refuses to use a computer, as most other agencies do, because she feels that such a system can lead to inappropriate couplings.

"I've had friends go to other dating agencies they ask for tall, dark and handsome but get short, fat and ugly. I don't want mine to be like that."

For further information on Romantic Liaisons call Sue on 8926 4660.
