Hot couple

By Haringey Independent

TWO avid Tottenham Hotspurs fans fulfilled their dream of being married on the home turf of their favourite team on Friday.

Instead of walking down the aisle, Donna Houston and Colin Pridham, of Middlesex, walked down the home team tunnel, becoming the first ever couple to be married on the White Hart Lane football pitch.

Donna Houston, a midwife and lifelong Spurs fan, had been ringing the White Hart Lane stadium every month since last October to find out whether the club had acquired its marriage licence.

The club received its licence on September 6 and the couple were married just two weeks later in front of 12 friends and family members.

Donna said: "We are over the moon to be getting married here at White Hart Lane. Being the first makes it extra special. It's our dream come true."

A spokeswoman for Tottenham Hotspurs said: "It was perfect a lovely first wedding. They even had two chairs embroidered with cockerels to sit on."

From a football-themed wedding, the couple will be indulging in their other passion running. Donna and Colin will be joining their local running team in Goa for their honeymoon.

White Hart Lane is opening its doors for more marriage services with several locations including pitchside, the directors' box, or even the home changing room to choose from.
