LEYTONSTONE firefighters were given the finger by a Senior Green Goddess Army officer as he drove past their picket line.

The fire officers saw the rude hand gesture being made to them on Tuesday at 7pm as the Green Goddess was on its way to an emergency call out.

They tried making an official complaint at the Territorial Army Centre in Whipps Cross Road but claim they were treated with a lack of co-operation there.

Outraged, a group of fire officers from all the Waltham Forest stations went back to the Territorial Army Centre on Wednesday to complain again about what had happened.

A fireman speaking from Leytonstone fire station said: "We are now facing a situation where one man's mindless actions has damaged the good will between the firefighters and the army."
