You've Bin a naughty Lad

TEACHERS at a Highams Park school were horrified to discover that one child taking part in a fancy dress competition of favourite literary characters had turned up as Osama bin Laden.

But it seems the school will not be taking the issue up with the child's parents.

The event, held at Selwyn Junior School in Cavendish Road to celebrate World Book Day, saw around 240 children between the ages of seven and 11 take part.

The day was a huge success apart from the bin Laden blip. The offending child, dressed head to toe in Sheik-type garments, was asked to stand aside when he revealed who he had turned up as.

A spokesman for EduAction said: "The day was a huge success apart from that one incident.

"When the child said he'd come as Osama bin Laden he was asked to stand to one side and not allowed to speak.

"The school would like to forget about this unfortunate episode and concentrate on the success of the rest of the day.

"I doubt very much that the school will be taking up this issue with the parents of the child involved."
