Average man publishes life story

By Walthamstow Guardian

A FORMER Walthamstow man who, in his words, is a "fairly ordinary bloke", has compiled his life story, capturing his early years living in the borough.

From Walthamstow to Wickhambrook The Journey of a Lifetime was written by Ron Weir and includes tales of family life, his time in the National Service and his career, and it exposes his love of sport.

Ron, who now lives in Suffolk with his second wife, said of his debut novel: "I think the motivation to write a story is that it is not intended to impress the reader but to give insight into what might be interpreted as an expos of a very ordinary life.

"Not that nothing of interest happens, quite the reverse, in fact, but the kind of things that did happen happened to someone unknown to the vast majority of our population.

"I am not a film star or politician. I have never been in the headlines.

"All I have done is live my life in the way I wanted to, done the things that I felt needed to be done and in the way I believed they should be done.

"We all live interesting lives, but only the rich and influential get their memoirs publicised. Perhaps that is my justification for writing this book."

The book is available from Ron. For more information contact him at 30 Nunnery Green, Wickhambrook, Suffolk CB8 8XT.
