    Ryman League

Heybridge Swifts

Formed in 1880 Heybridge Swifts (nickname Swifts) is a Ryman premier division club which takes great pride in maintaining its convivial village club atmosphere.

The Swifts were one of the founder members of the Essex Senior League in 1970/71.

After winning the Essex Senior League in 1981/82, 1982/83 and 1983/84 Heybridge Swifts joined Isthmian League Division 2 North and were champions in 1989/90.

In 1995/96 Swifts finished as runners up of division one to Oxford City and took another step up the Isthmian ladder to the premier division.

The club kept themselves in the top Ryman flight after a successful fight against relegation in 2000/01.

On the cup front Heybridge reached the quarter finals of the FA Trophy in 1996/97 and have made two appearances in the first round of the FA cup

itself in 1993/94 and 1997/98.

The club won the Ryman League Cup in 2000/01.

A successful youth policy has seen many younger players progress through the club's ranks to the football league including Simon Royce (Southend and

Charlton) and James Pullen (Ipswich).

Heybridge Swifts play at Scraley Road, Heybridge, Maldon. Tel: 01621 852978.
