Chesham United 1-1 PurfleetPurfleet cruised to an end-of-season point with Chesham United. For the hosts, this was a much more pressing clash and they desperately sought the points to help maintain Premier Divison status. But they now sit two points behind Boreham Wood with only two games left to play, and were second best for long spells. Terry Bowes won a penalty on 25 minutes that Tresor Kandol converted with some style to make a goalscoring return to his former employers. United came close to equalising with a flurry of chances falling to forwards Andre Scarlett and Paul Fewings, while Andy Douglas also went close went it looked as though he must equalise. Into the second half, and John Morgan's shot was expertly beaten away by Alex O'Reilly on 56 minutes as the hosts stepped up the tempo. A quick counter-attack almost presented Kris Lee with the chance to make it two at the other end, before Chesham bagged what could be a crucial equaliser a quarter of an hour from time. Morgan swung a ball into the box, Steve Pashley fluffed his clearance and Douglas rammed the ball home. Purfleet climb up to 6th. 17:00 Sunday 27th April 2003
