Campaigners to join capital rallyTHOUSANDS of campaigners are expected to converge on Trafalgar Square on Saturday (November 23) for a massive rally opposing the Government's plans to expand air transport capacity in the south east. Anti-Stansted protesters will be joined by campaigners from Heathrow, Cliffe in Kent and Luton for the demonstration, which is due to start outside Westminster Abbey at 12.30pm. Those taking part will then march past the Houses of Parliament, Whitehall and Downing Street before arriving at Trafalgar Square. Stop Stansted Expansion deputy chairman Peter Gowan said: "Frankly, the Government's proposals are a complete shambles and this march will drive that message home. Make no mistake, this march has to be the big one. "Our message to local people is clear, if you don't want Stansted to become the largest airport in the world, if you don't want Stansted to become bigger than Heathrow in the next ten years, then come to London and show the Government what you think of ITS proposals. "The more people we have marching the louder our message is going to be and the more we are going to show this Government that we will never accept ITS plans for more runways at Stansted."
