Charity website awards hope to urge other to go on www

Charities and voluntary groups can still enter the new online accounts awards with prizes of £2,000.

The Charities' Online Accounts Awards, is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Charities Aid Foundation with prizes for non-profit organisations with the best online annual report and accounts.

Entries will be judged on financial reporting accuracy, ease of access, innovation, value for money and ease of navigation.

Paul Davies, president of the Thames Valley Society of Chartered Accountants, who is a sole practitioner in Gerrards Cross, said: "It is estimated that about 53 per cent of charities in the UK already have their own website.

"Not only does making information available online help to keep costs down, it is an opportunity to reach a larger number of potential donors."

To enter or for further information visit http://www.CAFonline.org/onlineawards

Closing date is the end of June and winners will be announced in November.
